Often a user that comes onto a website wants to know straight away what the website does and what benefits it gives them. Visually, I would consider the hero banner to be grouped with the rest of the, but I'm not sure if reflecting this in the code would be considered semantically correct. A slider can easily be used as a hero header for a website, helping the user understand much quicker what the website has to offer. Back to the SAAS Company website (Testimonial section), you could see that as the 3 testimonial boxes scroll up, they actually go under the Testimonial Header.
